Nigel Summers

I have lived in Sussex for most of my life, originally in the Weald, but since 2000 down on the coast, firstly in Brighton & Hove, but now right on the beach in Lancing. It is the atmosphere, the colour and the light on the coast which have inspired me to capture these images in works of art.

Of particular inspiration has been The American Express Community Stadium which is the home of Brighton & Hove Albion up at Falmer. The striking beauty of the building, and its setting in a fold of the South Downs is an award winning design that is almost a piece of art in its own right. The white superstructure against the blue sky captures my attention every time I see it from whatever angle, even ten years on from its completion.

Since I have moved along the coast, I have been drawn to capturing other images of the coast and look forward to expanding my portfolio in this direction.

Having been painting for my own pleasure initially, I made a successful debut in May 2013 at the Brighton Festival Artists Open House. Since then I have also exhibited at a pop up shop in Brighton’s North Laine and look forward to returning to the Artist‘s Open Houses again.
